Statement of Faith

In very plain and simple verbiage, below is the framework of what I (Jennifer Skaw) believe.

• I believe the Bible is the complete Word of God. It is not just words on a page written by the wisdom of men, but is the living Word of God, Christ Himself and was written by God through the hands of men. It is perfect, everlasting, and is the final authority. It is the only Truth, and anything contrary to it is in error.
• I believe in the trinity. God is One God, but in three persons, Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.
• I believe that Jesus left heaven to be born of a virgin named Mary. I believe that Mary was not sinless and needed salvation from her sin just like the rest of humanity.
• I believe Jesus lived His entire life without sin.
• I believe Jesus is fully God and fully man.
• I believe Jesus died on the cross to pay the only sacrifice God would accept in order to free mankind from sin and separation from God.
• I believe Jesus rose from the grave and is alive for evermore in heaven.
• I believe the shed blood of Jesus on the cross, is the only thing that can cover our sin, and that this provision is available to all mankind.
• I believe good living and performing rituals like baptism cannot earn eternal life or forgiveness of sins. I believe every human is a sinner and that on their own they cannot do anything to erase this sin, no matter what kind of good life they lead or how religious they are.
• I believe that salvation can only be attained by acknowledging before God our personal sin and hopelessness and turning from unbelief to belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This salvation is by faith alone (believing, trusting) and cannot be combined with any work, ritual, promise, or sacrifice on the part of the sinner.
• I believe that this child-like trust/faith in Jesus secures our eternal home in heaven and restores our relationship with our Creator, allowing us to become children of God and no longer just His creation.
• I believe that Communion/The Lord's Supper is an opportunity commanded by Jesus Himself, for believers to remember the sacrifice of His body and blood that He gave to secure our home in heaven. The juice and wafer of bread are not part of salvation and are not the actual body or blood of the Savior.
• I do not believe that skirts and dresses are the only acceptable attire for females, and I personally wear skirts, dresses, and pants. I do not believe a female wearing pants has “lowered her standard” nor do I believe they should be shamed, shunned, judged, or harmed by their fellow brethren for wearing attire other than skirts or dresses.
• I do not believe baptism is part of forgiveness but rather is a public symbol of the salvation experience, signifying the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Scriptural baptism is to be carried out by full immersion in water after a profession of faith in Christ has been made.
• I believe that religious independence means making decisions and building church communities that are solely dependent on, shaped by, and in alignment with God alone in accordance with the complete and authoritative Word of God and are NOT dictated by or based on the fear-of-man, religion, religious organizations, religious leaders, standards, traditions, or personal agenda.
• Lastly, I believe that religious independence, and all traditions, standards, and church communities should be carried out and established with the Christ-centered motive of fulfilling our greatest commands… To love God and to love others so that God is glorified and so that His creation can be united in fellowship with their Creator through salvation in Jesus Christ.

My desire is that my teaching unites you in deeper fellowship with God and increases your joy in living for Christ. I desire my teaching to free you from the bondage and lies of Satan, who wants to not only make the Christian life heavy, but desires to destroy your life.
